Structures and NDI Engineer
Modern Technology Solutions is seeking a
Structures and NDI Engineer
to support airframe structural integrity and non‑destructive inspection (NDI) evaluation for advanced aircraft systems. This role will contribute to the engineering sustainment, analysis, and certification of air platform structures, focusing on mission readiness, material health, and long‑term durability in operational environments.
Responsibilities
Perform structural evaluations and analyses to support airworthiness, damage tolerance, and lifecycle extension programs.
Provide technical oversight and recommendations for NDI procedures and inspection technologies (e.g., UT, ET, RT, PT, MT).
Assist in the development of structural maintenance programs and technical orders (TOs).
Coordinate with OEMs, government agencies, and depot personnel to assess and resolve structural issues.
Evaluate material degradation, crack propagation, corrosion, and repair techniques.
Participate in design reviews, sustainment working groups, and airframe certification activities.
Support the integration of digital engineering and structural health monitoring systems where applicable.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.
5+ years of experience in aircraft structural engineering, NDI support, or depot‑level sustainment.
Familiarity with common NDI techniques (e.g., ultrasonic, radiographic, dye penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle).
Understanding of fatigue, fracture mechanics, and structural life prediction methods.
Experience with MIL‑STD, ASTM, or other DoD technical specifications and inspection protocols.
Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.
Desired
NDI Level II or III certification in one or more methods.
Experience with digital structural analysis tools (e.g., FEMAP, NASTRAN, ANSYS).
Familiarity with bonded composite repairs and advanced aerospace materials.
Background in supporting AFLCMC, depot sustainment organizations, or weapon system PMOs.
Master's degree or relevant engineering certification.
