Overview Seeking an experienced UNIX System Administrator to provide comprehensive administration, maintenance, and support for AIX/IBM and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems in an enterprise environment. The role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of UNIX infrastructure, supporting migrations, and maintaining detailed documentation for all UNIX‑related systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Perform day‑to‑day administration, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting of AIX systems, including VIOS, HMCs, and Managed Systems.

Provision and manage AIX virtual server builds using PowerVM technology.

Administer AIX LPARs configured as part of a PowerHA cluster.

Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement remediation strategies to secure AIX/IBM environments.

Plan and execute lifecycle migrations for IBM Power systems, ensuring seamless transition and validation.

Integrate AIX Logical Partitions (LPARs) with the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for asset tracking and documentation.

Support application migrations from AIX/IBM platforms to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) on x86 architectures or to cloud environments.

Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems, ensuring compliance with security standards.

Maintain up‑to‑date documentation, diagrams, and technical records for all UNIX‑related infrastructure and changes.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including security, development, and infrastructure, to support system and business requirements.

Participate in outage planning, capacity planning, and performance tuning to optimize system availability.

Contribute to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and best practices for UNIX system management.

Perform additional tasks or projects as assigned to support enterprise infrastructure goals.

Mandatory Qualifications

Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting server infrastructure in an enterprise environment.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience with IBM AIX systems administration in an enterprise setting.

Experience with building, patching, and administering AIX, PowerHA, HMC, VIOS, and Managed Systems.

Strong background in troubleshooting AIX‑based environments.

Hands‑on experience with IBM PowerVM virtualization environments (AIX).

Experience with system build processes and procedures in virtualized environments.

Proficiency in system monitoring and performance tools to support troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

Experience hardening operating systems to meet information security standards.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with shell scripting and automation.

Experience with IBM BigFix Patch Management.

Experience with IBM Tivoli Monitoring.

Experience with Ansible automation tools.

Experience with physical server hardware maintenance and repair.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills related to AIX, PowerHA, HMC, VIOS, and Managed Systems.

Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux in enterprise environments.
