Position Summary As a Staff Software Engineer specializing in Java applications, you will be a technical leader responsible for architecting, designing, and delivering robust, scalable, and high-performance solutions that Samsclub.com's Order Management platforms.

Responsibilities

Application Development : Lead the design, development, and deployment of Samsclub.com Fulfillment systems.

End-to-End AI Solutioning : Own the lifecycle of Fulfillment lifecycle from ideation to deployment, ensuring robust and scalable production systems.

Scalability and Reliability : Ensure the scalability and reliability of systems by implementing robust CI/CD pipelines, monitoring solutions, and alerting systems.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration : Partner with engineers, business, UX and product teams to integrate different services for Fulfillment Lifecycle.

Knowledge Sharing and Mentorship : Guide and mentor team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

Solution Design

Design scalable, distributed software solutions using industry best practices and design patterns.

Evaluate trade‑offs and convert high‑level designs into detailed technical specifications, including mockups and pseudocode.

Ensure solutions meet disaster recovery, MVP, and non‑functional requirements.

Hands‑on experience with development of services in Java on a cloud platform.

Exposure to build, CI/CD & deployment pipelines and related technologies like Kubernetes.

Exposure to SQL/NoSQL data stores like Cassandra, Elastic, Mongo etc.

Hands‑on experience in building web‑based Java EE services/applications leveraging Kafka, RESTful Web‑Services, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Splunk, Caching.

Retail experience or knowledge is a plus.

Defect Management and Troubleshooting

Track, analyze, and resolve defects using defect tracking tools and methodologies.

Conduct regression testing and troubleshoot performance and availability issues.

DevOps Orientation

Perform complex maintenance procedures and monitor application performance using telemetry and analytics.

Analyze logs, evaluate change requests, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

What you’ll bring

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent discipline (Master’s preferred).

10+ years of experience working on complex technology and data organizations, with 5+ years as senior engineer or designing the systems.

Proven success designing and maintaining

enterprise platforms

at scale and with low total ownership End to End.

Deep experience in

microservices architecture and system reliability .

Strong cross‑functional leadership—ability to connect engineering execution with business KPIs.

Salary Annual salary range: $143,000.00 – $286,000.00 (Sunnyvale, CA) or $110,000.00 – $220,000.00 (Bentonville, AR)
