WHO WE ARE:
Located in the charming neighborhood of Madison Park, Seattle Tennis Club is nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Washington, boasting panoramic views of downtown Bellevue, the Cascade Mountain Range, and Mount Rainier. The Club's roughly eight acres houses 19 tennis courts (including six indoor and three clay courts), a gymnasium, fitness center, massage room, squash courts, locker rooms, dining rooms, event spaces, a pool, private beach access, a boathouse, and a Tennis Pro Shop. The Washington State Open, the most prestigious tennis tournament in the state, has been hosted here annually since the Club's inception in 1890. The Seattle Tennis Club is a seasonal property seeing a peak in business June-October with some exceptions.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
A private club banquet manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of banquet operations within a private club setting. They are in charge of planning, organizing, and executing banquets and events, ensuring a high level of service and member satisfaction.
Specific Responsibilities
Event Planning and Coordination
Ensure BEO has all clear event details sold and gathered by the Catering & Events Sales Director.
Assist in the planning and organization of the event timeline, including setup, service, and breakdown.
Coordinate with various departments such as culinary, service staff, audio-visual, and facilities to ensure smooth event execution by participating in weekly BEO meetings or other scheduled Banquet meetings.
Staff Management
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise banquet staff, including servers, bartenders, and event setup personnel.
Schedule staff shifts and assign duties for each event, ensuring adequate coverage and efficient utilization of resources.
Conduct bi-annual staff meetings to communicate event details, provide training, and address any performance issues.
Lead by example, maintaining a professional and service-oriented environment.
Operations & Execution
Oversee all aspects of banquet operations, including setup, table arrangement, décor, and audio-visual requirements.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as club policies and procedures.
Monitor the quality of food, beverages, and service throughout the event, making necessary adjustments to maintain high standards.
Address any guest concerns or special requests promptly and efficiently.
Maintain monthly inventory of banquet supplies, equipment, and decorations, and coordinate restocking as needed.
Financial Management
Monitor and control expenses, including labor costs, supplies, and equipment, to achieve financial targets.
Ensure accurate and timely billing of banquet services.
Customer Service & Relationship Management
Provide exceptional customer service to club members, event hosts, and their guests, ensuring a memorable experience.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, anticipating their needs and preferences.
Event Marketing and Sales Support
Collaborate with the club's marketing and sales team to promote banquet services and attract new clients.
Participate in sales activities, such as conducting site visits, showcasing banquet facilities, and attending industry events.
Provide input on menu development and pricing strategies to enhance competitiveness and profitability.
Who You Are
3+ years of demonstrated Banquet experience, preferably in a large-scale catering environment.
Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast paced, team driven, problem solving environment and step in for staff as needed in urgent circumstances.
Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet critical deadlines.
3 years of supervision experience.
3 years of experience of audio/visual production and set up.
High school diploma or GED equivalent; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Serve Safe Certification, Washington Food Handlers Card, and Washington State Alcohol Card and Training required.
Cash handling and accounting experience.
Solid track record of success demonstrating upward career tracking.
Proficiency in MS Office; Word, Excel and Outlook.
Knowledge of industry systems and software; accounting, Jonas, preferred.
Able to work 10+ hour shifts plus the ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time. Intended schedule is 5 days on, 2 days off, subject to business needs.
Able to grasp, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance, business semi-formal attire.
