The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a full‑time, 12‑month Staff Counselor/Senior Staff Counselor position in the Student Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) unit of Student Wellness. CAPS is an IACS‑Accredited center dedicated to serving a diverse student population.
Role of the Position
Provide evidence‑based individual, couples, and group therapy and crisis assessment/intervention.
Consult, collaborate, and outreach to the university community.
Supervise doctoral interns, graduate trainees, and psychiatric residents.
Serve on unit, divisional, and university committees.
Minimum Qualifications
Staff Counselor:
Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Couple & Family Therapy or a related field from a regionally accredited institution; one year of related professional experience; demonstrated generalist counseling training; Nevada licensure (LCSW, LPCP, LMFT) required before employment.
Senior Staff Counselor:
All Staff Counselor qualifications plus 5 years of licensed independent clinical experience.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in a university counseling center or treatment of eating disorders. Strong clinical assessment, crisis intervention, supervision, and brief therapy skills.
