Overview President Jim Hess and Provost Jeanette Mendez are seeking an exceptional leader for the position of Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). The Dean will report to the Provost and Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs, and will play a crucial role in overseeing the construction of a nation‑leading animal teaching hospital while positioning OSU among the top veterinary programs in the country. OSU is particularly interested in candidates with veterinary credentials and leadership experience that extend beyond traditional academic settings, including industry partnerships, government relations, and strategic communications.

Responsibilities The Dean will oversee the development of CVM programs, including a four‑year professional curriculum leading to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, graduate programs in Comparative Biomedical Sciences, and joint degree options. The Dean will also manage the construction of a $330 million state‑of‑the‑art veterinary teaching hospital, coordinate with the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, and lead efforts to strengthen community and rural engagement, workforce development, industry partnerships, and fundraising.

Minimum Qualifications An earned Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree is required with a demonstrated record of clinical practice in both large and small animal settings and several years of administrative experience either as an administrator with major responsibilities for a program in veterinary medical education or in the management of a medium‑to‑large clinical practice. Candidates should also possess proven administrative and leadership skills: the ability to inspire others, manage funds, generate resources, delegate responsibilities, promote ethical behavior, and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external partners. Experience in fundraising campaigns and the ability to attract and manage external funds in cooperation with the OSU Foundation is also required.
