Scope Of Work The purpose of this consultancy assignment is to strengthen UNICEF’s engagement with faith-based and membership organisations to complement their funding, by fully leveraging integrated offerings on non-financial engagements, including better utilizing the advocacy engagements and social behaviour change resources; and developing a thought leadership strategy. The consultant will ensure that UNICEF’s strategic objectives are advanced through effective partnership, resource adaptation, and thought leadership within the faith sector.

Key Responsibilities

Adapt existing Social Behaviour Change (SBC) toolkits for faith and membership partners: review and adapt existing SBC toolkits to ensure language and framing are appropriate for PFP faith and membership partners; coordinate peer review and approval of adapted toolkits.

Coordinate faith‑led advocacy and fundraising activations on the moral case for aid: coordinate UNICEF’s engagement in faith‑led advocacy initiatives, particularly on the moral case for aid; develop and implement an advocacy engagement plan in collaboration with Global Advocacy colleagues.

Develop a faith thought leadership strategy, with opportunities for UNICEF to provide thought leadership in faith‑led convenings: coordinate UNICEF’s participation in key faith‑based thought leadership opportunities (e.g., Arigatou Day of Prayer and Action for Children, Faith engagement in COP, G20 Interfaith Forum, World Parliament of Religions).

Plan, organise and facilitate two online and one in‑person Faith Leadership Circle events, including agenda development, content preparation, logistics and post‑event follow‑up.

Develop a comprehensive toolkit signposting existing advocacy and SBC assets accessible to faith and membership partners; prepare a guidance note for fundraising colleagues on leveraging these assets in funding proposals.

Work Assignments Overview & Deliverables Deliverable 1: Directory on SharePoint with guidance note for fundraising colleagues (due end of February 2026).

Deliverable 2: Faith‑specific engagement plan, aligned with DGCA activations and funding propositions (due end of March 2026).

Deliverable 3: Two peer‑reviewed and approved social and behaviour change toolkits (due end of June 2026).

Deliverable 4: Written faith‑thought‑leadership strategy document with calendar of events (due end of June 2026).

Deliverable 5: Documentation for two online and one in‑person Faith Leadership Circle events (due 14 November 2026).

Deliverable 6: Final report summarising achievements, challenges and recommendations (due 14 November 2026).

Reporting Requirements

Submit monthly progress updates to the supervisor.

Deliver all outputs in accordance with the agreed timeline and quality standards.

Provide a final report summarizing achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

Consultant's Workplace and Official Travel The consultant will be remote / home‑based. Some travel may be required during the assignment; this will be covered separately by UNICEF. Related costs will be reimbursed per the UNICEF travel policy.

Travel Clause

All UNICEF rules and regulations related to travel of consultants apply.

All travels shall be undertaken only upon prior written approval by UNICEF.

The consultant must be fit to travel, possess a valid UN BSAFE certificate, obligatory inoculations, valid travel/medical insurance and an immunisation/vaccination card.

Qualifications Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in international development, theology, fundraising or related field.

Alternately, a first‑level university degree (Bachelor’s) combined with two additional years of professional experience may be accepted.

Experience

Minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in partnerships, communications or advocacy, including work with faith‑based organisations and partnership development.

Demonstrated experience in advocacy or SBC, and event planning.

Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Language Requirements

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of an additional UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

Remarks Please indicate your all‑inclusive (lump sum) fees in USD against the deliverables listed above, including all associated administrative and travel costs (if applicable), in the cover letter. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment if deliverables are not up to the required standard or if submitted late.

Consultants engaged under a consultancy contract are not considered staff members under the UN and UNICEF regulations and are not entitled to benefits provided to staff. They are responsible for determining their tax liabilities in accordance with local laws.
