The Civil Engineering Practice seeks a Client Team Leader / Project Director in Tustin, Ontario, Santa Clarita, or our Los Angeles, CA offices.
This role participates in project management and business development activities in support of our Land Development Group within Los Angeles and potentially Ventura Counties. Our group works in commercial, industrial, residential, multi‑use, infill development, parks, trails, open space, and urban planning for private, municipal, and public works clients.
Key Responsibilities
Lead full‑lifecycle client relationships in Los Angeles County and sell all DEA services.
Develop new business, lead client teams, engage cross‑business units, forecast sales, and assess client technology trends.
Maintain and deepen client relationships, deliver the DEA Difference, and monitor project manager performance.
Conduct client experience surveys, coach project managers, remove underperforming staff, and support collections.
Determine pursuit staffing and partners, make go/no‑go decisions, and drive client profitability, contract terms, and revenue forecasting.
Project Director / Manager Responsibilities
Serve as pursuit champion and project manager/director for Land Development projects.
Ensure on‑time, on‑budget, quality deliverables that exceed industry standards.
Provide design leadership, review engineering documents, and ensure compliance with quality management.
Ensure office resources, attract key talent, and oversee performance.
Partner with Business Unit staff to support employee development and career growth.
Achieve business unit metrics – sales, backlog, utilization, client satisfaction, profit, operating income, days sales outstanding.
Adhere to firmwide tools, processes, and policies – project accounting, contracting, quality requirements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related field.
10+ years of experience on residential, commercial, industrial, K‑12, public infrastructure, or park projects.
5+ years in business development with local private developers and public agencies.
