About the role We are looking for Test Lead with 10+ years of QA experience who have good exposure and understanding of personal lines Insurance (Auto or Home). Ideal candidate will have deep expertise in insurance systems and testing methodologies. Added advantage if they have guidewire and automation experience. It will be an individual contributor role with the following responsibilities.

In this role, you will:

Review and understand complex test plan/design to validate the quality of new and existing software functionality and support existing Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance systems application testing capability.

Take a defined complex test design and turn it into either appropriate manual or develop required automated test cases and deliver it on schedule, applying appropriate technologies and current software engineering best practices. Can also call out potential coverage gaps or missing test scenarios within that test design.

Write stable, efficient and maintainable automated test code. Use technology to solve straightforward problems, seeking input and guidance from team members.

Works with more junior members to mentor and support them as they create manual or develop automated tests based on defined test plans. Completes code reviews and provides constructive feedback to other Software Development Engineer in Test.

Work effectively with customers and/or internal partners to understand business impacts and identify any opportunities/problems arising from technical decisions. Invent, refine and develop solutions to ensure software testing results are meeting customer needs and team goals. Responsible for tactical ownership and hands‑on design implementation, and support of components within your team’s projects.

Collaborates with leads and QA Architects to establish a technical vision for your Agile team, define best practices, analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs and make the right decisions to ensure your teams future success.

Collaborate with subject matter experts and business partners to understand the needs of the business and our customers and create test scenarios to deliver the high quality solutions to our customers.

Actively participate in team design, scoping, prioritization discussions and Agile ceremonies.

What you need to have to be considered

Overall 8-12 years of experience in QA testing experience with strong experience in Property & Casualty Insurance.

Must have 4+ years of experience with in Property & Casualty Insurance.

Strong knowledge of P&C insurance product functionality (Auto or Home preferred).

Experience in testing insurance systems such as policy administration, claims, billing, or underwriting platforms.

Good experience with rating, underwriting rules, policy lifecycle, conversion/migration testing in P&C insurance

Good understanding of Guidewire, or other insurance policy admin systems (P&C/Home, Auto Insurance) preferred.

Solid hands‑on QA testing experience (manual/functional/regression), preferably in Agile/Scrum delivery teams.

Experience working within insurance carriers or consulting firms supporting Guidewire implementation.

Experience with test management tools (e.g., ALM, JIRA, Zephyr, TestRail).

These will help you stand out

Exposure to one or more modules of Guidewire (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, or ClaimCenter).

Automation testing experience (UI/API).

Salary and Other Compensation Applications will be accepted until November 21, 2025

The annual salary for this position is between USD 95,000 – 108,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
