District Wide (San Diego Community College District campuses: City, Mesa, Miramar and various continuing education centers)

Position Type:

Adjunct (part‑time / substitute) faculty

Major Responsibilities

Instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.

Provide lecture and lab instruction as determined by department.

Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.

Maintain current knowledge in subject matter areas.

Availability to students outside of class hours.

Teach all scheduled classes and maintain accurate records.

Create an environment that emphasizes teaching, learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught.

Associate degree plus six years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught.

Possession of a full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter.

Equivalent credential or experience.

Desired Qualifications

Certification by the American Board of Opticianry or equivalent.

Certification by the National Contact Lens Examiners or equivalent.

Special Instructions to Applicants

Submit official college transcripts as stated on application.

Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (must be renewed every 4 years).

Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district's expense; clearance must be received prior to first day of employment.

Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Additional Information Applicants may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor. This position is part of a continuous adjunct pool and may result in assignments during fall, spring, and/or summer semesters.
