(USA) Senior Software Engineer – AI/ML & Agentic Applications
Base Pay Range $90,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr
Position Summary Join Walmart’s mission to transform the in‑store associate and manager experience through AI‑powered and Agentic AI solutions. Our team is building next‑generation applications that enhance productivity, collaboration, and decision‑making for millions of associates worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Analysis & Scoping: Partner with stakeholders, identify risks and gaps, and translate business objectives into Agile‑friendly user stories and technical designs.
Solution Architecture & Design: Design scalable, distributed, and resilient AI/ML solutions; architect multi‑agent orchestration workflows; evaluate trade‑offs across performance, scalability, and cost.
AI/ML & Agentic Development: Research, prototype, and implement Agentic AI applications using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, or Semantic Kernel; build multi‑agent pipelines, fine‑tune LLMs, and implement RAG pipelines and prompt engineering.
Software Development & Testing: Write clean, maintainable, and secure code in Python, Java, JavaScript/Node.js; build backend services with Spring Boot, GraphQL, and event‑driven architectures; contribute to mobile‑first experiences; develop automated test cases for performance, reliability, and security.
CI/CD, Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Build CI/CD pipelines for multi‑agent workflows and model training; deploy to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Walmart Cloud Native Platform (WCNP); monitor production systems using Dynatrace, OpenObserve, and telemetry; diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
Hands‑on experience deploying AI/ML and agent‑based applications into production.
Proficiency in Python, Java, Node.js, and modern frameworks (Spring Boot, LangChain, LangGraph).
Experience with multi‑agent orchestration frameworks and LLM‑powered workflows.
Strong knowledge of cloud‑native platforms (Azure, Kubernetes, Docker).
Experience with GraphQL and databases (Azure SQL, Cassandra, Cosmos DB).
Solid understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and disaster recovery.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and automated testing.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Agentic AI development using LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, or Semantic Kernel.
Practical knowledge of multi‑agent orchestration strategies (task decomposition, role‑based AI agents, collaborative planning).
Hands‑on experience with vector databases, RAG pipelines, and LLM tuning.
Familiarity with multimodal data (text, image, speech) integration.
Experience designing intelligent caching, observability, and policy enforcement for AI systems.
Background in enterprise‑scale mobile and cloud‑native development.
Knowledge of accessibility best practices and WCAG 2.2 AA standards for inclusive digital experiences.
