Sr. Technical Recruiter at BrightHire Search Partners We are seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with experience 3D and 2D design of robotic devices. This role will be a key contributor to several new robotic product lines for a company developing robotic products making a major impact to critical infrastructure.
Robotics Design & Integration
Design complete robotic systems: chassis, drivetrains, 6-DOF arms, pan-tilt-zoom cameras, cable reels, and lift mechanisms
Engineer power transmission: motors, gearboxes, lead screws, bearings, seals, chain/belt drives
Integrate mechatronics: encoders, limit switches, force/torque sensors, motor controllers, cable management
Create production-ready 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings in SolidWorks
Apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5), generate BOMs, weldment cut lists, and flat patterns
Perform FEA using SolidWorks Simulation (static, thermal, vibration, fatigue, motion)
Manage PDM Pro vaults, configurations, design tables, and part libraries
Set SolidWorks standards and templates for the engineering team
Analysis, Testing & Compliance
Conduct FEA, tolerance analysis, thermal modeling, and hand calculations
Develop custom test fixtures and non-standard procedures (IP68, shock, corrosion, endurance)
Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, ANSI, ISO, and hazardous location standards
Lead DFMEA/PFMEA and support process control plans
Cross-Functional Leadership
Define motion control specs (speed, torque,
Support manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and customer service
Drive sustaining engineering: failure analysis, cost reduction, obsolescence
Mentor junior engineers in robotics design and SolidWorks best practices
Required
B.S. Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics (M.S. preferred)
Expert in SolidWorks: 3D/2D, Simulation (FEA), PDM Pro
