Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opening for an
Applications Engineer , based in our Research & Innovation Center in Middletown, Ohio Regional Office. This role works directly with customers on business development activities, including new product development, new program launch, and material qualifications.
Responsibilities
Performs engineering activities supporting product and application development
Interacts directly with new and existing customers, identifies new applications, as well as new product development opportunities
Leads early vendor involvement activity, analyzes product requirements, tracks material prototyping needs and assures production intent material availability for customer trials
Collaborates with Research, Products & Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Customer Technical Service, and Quality in advanced product planning, pre‑launch, and launch support to meet customer requirements
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related field
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
Experience in steel applications and steel product development
Familiarity with automotive, appliance, or other manufacturing processes and development protocols
