Senior Accountant Our client, a leading financial services organization, is seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant to oversee complex accounting and reporting functions in accordance with GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (STAT). This role plays a pivotal part in driving accounting integrity, advising on technical matters, and guiding the implementation of evolving accounting standards across the enterprise.

Base pay range $114,080.00/yr - $218,030.00/yr

What You’ll Do

Provide authoritative guidance on the interpretation and application of GAAP and STAT standards for internal finance teams and senior leadership.

Establish, update, and enforce accounting policies and procedures that promote consistency and compliance across the organization.

Evaluate complex or unique transactions for accounting implications, document conclusions, and communicate findings to key stakeholders.

Lead the assessment and implementation of new accounting standards, ensuring alignment across impacted business areas.

Support the drafting of comment letters for regulatory bodies such as the FASB and NAIC and represent the company on external accounting committees.

Partner with auditors and external advisors on technical accounting matters, ensuring the organization’s positions are well-supported and compliant.

Identify and document financial and operational system requirements that affect accounting and reporting processes.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the financial reporting and disclosure implications of major business initiatives.

Champion risk management practices by ensuring accounting and reporting risks are properly identified, monitored, and mitigated.

What You Bring

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

CPA designation strongly preferred (required in lieu of degree for equivalent experience).

Experience:

Minimum of 8 years in accounting or financial reporting, with a strong record of preparing journal entries, reconcili, and external financial statements.

Deep technical expertise in

GAAP

and

Statutory Accounting (STAT)

frameworks.

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in financial data analysis and interpretation.

Strong communication and collaboration abilities—skilled at influencing and partnering across all levels of the organization.

Demonstrated experience leading projects and guiding cross‑functional or matrixed teams.

Background in documenting and improving accounting processes and system integrations.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands‑on experience in

Property & Casualty (P&C) reinsurance accounting .

Familiarity with statutory reporting, including

Schedule F .
