Role Overview:

The Principal Design Engineer will plan, lay out, draw, and revise parts, assemblies, and fabrication engineering drawings for printed wiring boards (PWBs) and printed circuit boards (PCBs). The engineer will use CAD tools such as Cadence Allegro and produce fabrication files.

Layout of PWBs/PCBs, flex circuits, interconnect routing, and drawing generation.

Calculate layer stack‑up based on industry standards, supplier capabilities, and engineering requirements.

Create and document the required electronic data file outputs for fabrication and manufacturing.

Interface with electrical and mechanical engineers on component placement, routing, and mechanical fitment for rigid, flex, and rigid‑flex assemblies.

Apply electrical and mechanical performance theory to layout decisions (impedance matching, differential pairs, strain/stress, component orientation, etc.).

Incorporate PWB/PCB change notices and ensure manufacturability.

Coordinate design reviews with engineering, quality, and manufacturing personnel.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 8 years of direct experience, or Master’s degree with 6 years, or 12 years in lieu of a degree.

Experience in PCB design, PWB layer stack‑up for digital, RF, mixed‑signal, and power supply PCAs.

Proficiency with Cadence Allegro or a similar CAD tool.

Knowledge of industry specifications and design‑for‑manufacturing rules.

Ability to read drawings and schematic diagrams.

US citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in STEM.

Experience with PCB fabrication, testing, and quality.

Strong self‑organization and communication skills.

Salary Range:

$119,200 – $178,800 per year

Employees may qualify for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off.
