SUMMARY Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Electronics Technician in our Facilities Maintenance department. This full-time position will work weekdays.

A $1,500 sign‑on bonus is available for eligible external candidates (contract/temporary workers and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible).

Under general supervision, an employee in this job class performs work of moderate difficulty in installing, maintaining, repairing and modifying electronic equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Adjusts, calibrates, aligns and modifies circuitry and electrical components

Assembles a wide variety of electronic equipment

Designs electronic circuits and suggests modifications for greater efficiency and reliability

Operates electronic measuring and data recording equipment

Repairs or replaces defective electronic apparatus and systems

Makes modifications following schematic drawings and sketches

Completes assigned work orders and preventive maintenance to maintain the reliability and integrity of the electronic infrastructure in the hospital

Understand they may receive emergency calls to correct electronic systems failures during evening, night, weekend and holiday periods

Maintain the fire system in accordance with the NFPA and Life Safety Code requirements

Control and complete issued paperwork for Environment of Care corrections

Complete small renovation and construction projects in compliance with county and building codes

Inspect, maintain, and repair nurse call equipment to ensure the equipment is free of hazards and optimally available to the patient

Maintain, service and provide support for various Hospital Low Voltage Systems, i.e. Fire Alarm, Overhead Paging, Nurse Call, Pneumatic Tube, Patient Television Broadcast Distribution System, BAS, Security/Card Access and CCTV Systems

Repair, maintain and replace patient televisions

Troubleshoot and repair the overhead paging system and components

Test and maintain documentation of Fire System per The Joint Commission Standards

Assist the Organization as we move forward with new technologies

Direct Manage adds, moves, changes or repairs of various low voltage systems

Assist in layout and design of the low voltage systems in new spaces and remodels

Maintain databases, servers and electronic equipment which are not maintained by HCMC Network Group

Build a baseline level training program for the Facilities Maintenance Operating Engineers and any other end users of the systems that the Electronic Techs support

Work with low voltage contractors that do cabling in HCMC buildings

Provide budgets for future growth and technologies to Management Team

Standardize installation, equipment and programming of low voltage system

Maintain supplies, spare and tool inventory

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of a trade school course in electronics

Two years' experience in electronic maintenance, repair and modification

OR

An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

Working ability in the use of tools and testing devices used in electronics.

Working ability to maintain records and make reports as to the status of repair or maintenance work.

Working ability to carry our complex written or oral instructions.

Working ability to give instruction in the use of electronic equipment

Considerable knowledge of the basic principles and practices of electronics

Considerable knowledge of the hazards and precautionary measures related to electrical and electronic work

Some knowledge of the application of electronics to medicine
