About the Job
This is a standing posting to remain open throughout the 2024-2025 academic year. This posting is for positions that will span the full academic year. The percentage of appointments varies from semester to semester, depending on the number of courses being taught at one time. The U of M contributes to the cost of UPlan benefits for positions of 75%-time (30 hours per week) or higher.
Responsibilities
Serve as instructor of record for mathematics undergraduate or graduate-level courses per academic year
Course assignments may range from undergraduate courses to professional masters courses in financial mathematics
Prepare course materials including syllabus
Deliver course content
Respond to student inquiries via email, phone, or in person
Grade all student materials including exams, papers, presentations and final exams
Submit final grades
Courses may be offered online or in person.
Qualifications
PhD degree in the mathematical sciences or a related field
Experience teaching university-level undergraduate or graduate math courses
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience serving as the instructor of record for a university-level course
About the Department The School of Mathematics is located in the heart of the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) on the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus. Made up of over 60 faculty members and 120 graduate students, our research community is dedicated to discovery in both pure mathematics and a variety of interdisciplinary topics. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $60,000 - $90,000 annually, based on 100%-time appointment; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
