Job Summary The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, maintaining a safe environment, modeling best practice to staff, and providing child development information to parents. Also ensures compliance with state and local regulations and collaborates with staff.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma
Minimum required ECE units for Master Teacher permit, working toward Site Supervisor permit through California Commission on Teaching Credentialing
Minimum of two years teaching experience in Early Childhood Education field
Preferred Qualifications
AA in Child Development or related field
BA in Child Development or related field
Three years teaching experience in Early Childhood Education field
Special Conditions of Employment
Satisfactory criminal history background check
Mandated Child Abuse Reporter
Campus Security Authority
Acceptable health screening: TB negative within 1 year, required immunizations
Valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification prior to start date
Completion of CA Mandated Reporting Title 22

Develop weekly plans and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum.
Inf classrooms employ primary caregiver model for caregiving routines.
Provide responsive care adapting routines to individual child and group.
Meet weekly with teacher to coordinate curriculum and evaluate needs.
Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for child background.
Exchange information and serve on multidisciplinary intervention team.
Successfully complete transition orientation of classroom with parents.
Maintain open communication with families; interact daily; give verbal reports and written notes.
Ensure family relationships and clear communication.
Hold two scheduled family conferences per year; available for additional conferences.
Maintain classroom family information board and post weekly messages on Parent Square.
Report family changes and absences to administration timely.
25% Management
Know and follow State licensing guidelines at all times.
Maintain accurate child, family, and agency records; daily meal and attendance records per Title 22 and Title 5.
Maintain up-to-date emergency forms, curriculum plans, child development profile, and record as needed.
Complete and report any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor or hotline.
Completes daily health checks; administer medications as needed, keep medications per Title 5.
Provide professional guidance and support to teachers and teaching assistants daily.
Update teachers and assistants on classroom and program matters.
Provide functional on-the-job training and guidance of all classroom personnel.
Report all staffing and classroom concerns to supervisor timely.
Complete DRDP, ITERS/ECERS, and summary of findings action plan with teacher, prepare reports per Title 5.
In collaboration with program coordinator, complete annual performance evaluations of teachers and three month evaluations of probationary teachers.
Contribute to overall success of ECCES by performing all other duties as assigned.
10% Child Assessment
Perform ongoing developmental evaluations of children; develop activity plans and follow curriculum implementation addressing individual needs.
Prepare developmental progress reports and assessments as needed: anecdotal reports, parent reports, individualized action plans.
On an ongoing basis, plan, evaluate, and improve physical (indoor and outdoor) environment in classroom.
5% Program and Professional Development
Participate in ongoing in-service, professional and educational development opportunities.
Participate in ongoing development and evaluation of center's goals and objectives.
Submit documentation to program coordinators on time.
Continue ongoing professional development; complete required hours and maintain valid child development permit.
Maintain valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification at all times.

Perform other duties as assigned.
