Position Summary Takes accurate orders from customers, enters orders in the POS system, makes food recommendations, pairs beverages, and clears/cleans tables after the meal, providing excellent guest service according to company guidelines. Upsells food and beverage items to maximize profitability.

Duties & Responsibilities

Helps guests select food and beverages by presenting the menu, offering cocktails and aperitifs, suggesting courses, explaining the chef's specialties, identifying appropriate wines, and answering food preparation questions.

Enters orders into the POS system and records guests' choices, special dietary needs, and special requests.

Keeps kitchen staff informed by noting the timing of meal progression.

Processes guest payment transactions accurately and closes out the table, balancing all payment methods with sales reporting and calculating tip-outs.

Maintains the cleanliness of the work areas, keeping them stocked.

Prepares the dining room by setting tables, decorating, placing condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils.

Follows all standard food handling, sanitation, TIPS, and health department guidelines, completing required training as scheduled.

Reports to work on time and on a regular basis; punctuality is an essential function of the job.

Completes side work before, during, and after the shift.

Maintains complete knowledge of all resort/hotel/club services and local attractions to provide accurate responses to guest/member inquiries.

Greets guests/members, creating a positive and friendly environment while maintaining professional demeanor and distance.

Notifies management of unsafe conditions, needed equipment maintenance, or accidents.

Resolves guest complaints within its scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management, notifying security of any unusual events, missing items, or alleged theft.

Ensures minors and intoxicated persons are not served alcoholic beverages and reports related problems to management.

Follows all safety policies and procedures, reporting potential safety issues promptly and taking immediate action as required by OSHA laws.

Qualifications & Requirements

One year of food service experience, preferably in a hotel/resort environment.

Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, hotel service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.

General knowledge of wine, beer, liquors, water, and drinks served.

Ability to serve guests through verbal, face‑to‑face interactions, using discretion with confidential or sensitive information.

Positive attitude, professional demeanor, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and commitment to high guest satisfaction.

Completes required training as scheduled.

Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Ability to learn and use hospital POS computer systems.

Strong attention to detail; organized and capable of handling multiple tasks under pressure.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating procedures; fluent in English.

Flexibility to work varying schedules, including holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts.

Minimum age 18; must complete TIPS® certification and have a valid Food Handlers Card or obtain one within 30 days.

Knowledge of all applicable health, federal, state, and local laws regarding alcohol service to minors and intoxicated patrons.
