Working with industry experts, you’ll tackle complex challenges that strengthen community resilience. Our Waterfront and Marine Team and Projects Our Waterfront and Marine group specializes in providing planning and engineering services to address the challenges of waterfront projects that include piers, seawalls, revetments, and bulkheads. With climate change having a significant impact on numerous communities, we focus on preventative measures to ensure resilience. Our team of nearly 120 Land Use professionals across our 15 regional offices is dedicated to supporting our coastal resiliency projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
Coordinate and manage project staffing, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across the waterfront and Marine group. Assist with staff recruitment to support the continued growth and success of the practice
Build and maintain strong relationships with public and private sector clients, as well as municipal, state, and federal agencies, to identify and develop new business opportunities
Lead the preparation of proposals, facilitate client meetings, and participate in project interviews to secure new projects in the waterfront and coastal sectors
Support the senior-level management of projects, including overseeing scope and fee development, design quality, adherence to budgets and schedules, and client communications
Provide technical and professional mentorship to junior staff, fostering their career growth and contributing to a culture of collaboration and excellence
Contribute to the long-term vision and strategic growth of the waterfront and marine practice, identifying new service areas and market opportunities
Provide subject matter expertise in the design and management of coastal infrastructure projects, ensuring projects meet regulatory requirements and client expectations
Represent the firm in industry associations and at conferences, strengthening our reputation as a leader in the coastal engineering space
ul> What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Extensive years of experience (20+) in Waterfront engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Proven track record in designing and managing complex waterfront infrastructure projects
Strong business development skills with demonstrated success in securing and managing client relationships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively
>Experience managing project scopes, fees, budgets, schedules, and quality control Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills, with a focus on fostering staff growth and development
Preferred Requirements
Master's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering
Experience in climate resilience and adaptation projects
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks specific to the Northeastern United States
Active involvement in professional organizations such as ASCE’s Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute (COPRI) or PIANC
Experience with strategic planning and business line development in coastal engineering
Knowledge of sustainable design practices and resilience planning for coastal infrastructure
