Summary Under direct and/or general supervision, the Water Operations Technician performs a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of the water/wastewater facility. Provides support in the water operations department as well as assist with projects as needed.

We are hiring for an opening on 3rd shift: Sunday - Thursday, 7:00pm - 3:30am

Responsibilities

Maintain water operations by performing sampling, lab analysis, load outs and de-watering operation

Perform general cleaning tasks, including weed-pulling/whacking, shoveling, sweeping, hosing, wiping, and shop-vacuuming

Provide routine preventative maintenance, including repair on wastewater pumps, switches, valves, blowers, aeration tank heat exchanger and cooling tower system

Install or modify wastewater piping as needed to improve performance or expand capacity

Prevent storm water pollution by cleaning around storm sewers, including cleaning occasional sludge spills and preventing future spills

Log critical readings for plant efficiency, along with other internal record-keeping

Refill 55-gallon chemical containers on as needed basis

Perform clean in place processes, including changing filters

Coordinate liquid byproduct hauling

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and climb. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to nonhazardous fumes, odors, airborne particles, and process liquid splashing. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Can be in the sun for extended periods of time. In some situations, working with a broken pump/valve/pipe employee can get excessively wet. The treatment plant is outside and includes night and weekend work, where employees can expect temperatures up to 110F and down to 35F.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required

Experience and competency with basic hand and power tools required with an ability to accurately measure and mark material for cutting or fitting

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of programs, including Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills

Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

Motivated, self-starter with a proven ability to problem-solve

Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs

Travel Requirements: occasional travel required to vendors and other Stone locations

Compensation, Benefits & Perks

Pay Range : $20.50/hr. - $23.50/hr.

Additional Pay:

2nd shift and 3rd shift are eligible for our Shift Differential Program 2nd shift receives $1.25/hr.

3rd shift receives $2.50/hr.
