Hunt Electric, Inc. is seeking an experienced Safety Specialist for our Big Horn project. This position will be working directly with other project level functional lead to address safety/health requirements on the jobsite. This is a key position in ensuring the smooth execution of construction projects from start to finish. This position requires an extended period of time at our onsite location.

The Safety Specialist will be responsible for promoting a safe & healthy work environment. This candidate will be responsible for continuous improvement of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) systems resulting in the reduction of incidents and ensure regulatory compliance.

Major Duties

Conduct safety assessments/inspections of projects under construction to monitor and ensure compliance with safety/health requirements including contractual commitments, laws, regulations and the project’s site specific environmental, safety & health plans. A strong emphasis will be on promoting and improving the company’s “Safety leading measures.”

Collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement environmental, safety and security policies and procedures.

Identify opportunities to eliminate workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.

Assist the Safety & Risk manager in the development of Method of Procedure (MOP) and critical activity plans.

Working knowledge of injury prevention, compliance, and risk reduction techniques.

Conduct investigations into employee or sub-contractor injuries, motor vehicle accidents, spills, discharges, theft, vandalism, property damages and develop written reports to document, including root cause analysis.

As directed, conduct safety & compliance training for supervisors & field employees.

Ability to lead and direct in an emergency event.

Provide comprehensive written reports to document site visits, activities and incidents as needed.

Demonstrate an aptitude for learning, goal-oriented mindset for continual growth, with a “Can-Do” positive attitude.

Actively contributes to a positive team environment.

Demonstrates dependability with regular attendance and compliance to scheduled work hours.

Other duties or locations as assigned by Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years’ safety experience in a construction setting.

CSP or CHST certification with minimum of OSHA 30.

Electrical trade experience preferred.

Must possess OSHA 30 construction certificate valid within 5 years.

Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations as applied to construction and general industry.

First Aid, CPR & AED certifications.

Electrical safety-NFPA 70E, Excavation, fall protection and confined space certified.

Self-driven, willing to work alone or as part of a team on assigned tasks and initiatives.

Ability to work overtime, weekends, and travel as needed.

Strong computer skills including Microsoft applications.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, supervisory and leadership skills.

Ability to physically perform the duties and functions of the position.

Valid driver’s license.

Work Schedule This is a full-time position with a typical working schedule of Mon – Friday 6:00am – 4:30pm and Saturdays 6:00am – 2:30pm.
