Overview

We’re representing a

well-established global logistics and freight forwarding organization

known for delivering comprehensive air, ocean, and 3PL solutions to customers across North America. The business combines a robust international network with a local, service-driven approach — providing tailored logistics solutions across multiple industries.

With steady growth across the Midwest, the company is now seeking a

Business Development Manager

to accelerate regional expansion and strengthen its market presence throughout

Chicago and the surrounding states .

The Role

This is a high-impact, customer-facing position focused on developing new business and growing strategic accounts within the international freight forwarding sector. You’ll work closely with operational and pricing teams to design end-to-end solutions that meet each client’s supply chain goals while ensuring seamless service delivery.

The role is ideal for a commercially minded sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building long-term relationships in a competitive market.

Key Responsibilities

Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities across air, ocean, and logistics services.

Develop strong, consultative relationships with importers and exporters across the Midwest.

Partner with pricing and operations to create customized, competitive proposals.

Maintain a structured sales pipeline and deliver accurate revenue forecasting through CRM tools.

Conduct client visits, quarterly business reviews, and on-site presentations.

Support onboarding and ensure smooth handover to internal operations.

Represent the company at local trade events and industry functions to enhance brand visibility.

Contribute to the regional growth strategy and sales performance initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

5+ years’ experience in

international freight forwarding or 3PL sales .

Strong understanding of

air, ocean, and customs brokerage

processes.

Demonstrated success in new business development and key account growth.

Excellent relationship management, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Well-connected within the Midwest importer/exporter community.

Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working independently.

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
