Job Description and Position Requirements Penn State Abington has an immediate opening for a part‑time Assistant Softball Coach. Penn State Abington is a member of NCAA Division III and the United East Conference. This is a part‑time opening that reports to the Head Softball Coach and the Director of Athletics.
Job Duties
The assistant coach is responsible for helping the Head Coach with organizing all aspects of the softball program, including practice and game preparation, and recruitment of qualified student‑athletes.
The assistant coach must motivate student‑athletes, encourage high academic standards and leadership skills, and manage the team’s commitment to NCAA and United East Conference regulations.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and experience coaching softball.
Ability to work in an outdoor environment under adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
Background Checks/Clearances This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and federal (FBI) fingerprint criminal background check. The position also requires operation of a motor vehicle; a valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required.
Campus Security Crime Statistics Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
