Overview
THIS IS A PART-TIME TEMPORARY POSITION. THIS POSITION MAY END AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE DEPARTMENT. The primary responsibility of investigators in the Financial Crimes Unit includes but is not limited to the investigation of Fraud, Forgery, Credit Card Abuse, Fraudulent use of ID, Cryptocurrency, and any other criminal violations assigned to the unit. Management may, at its discretion, assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. Duties and Responsibilities
Case management Interview witnesses and interrogate suspects Conduct surveillance Conduct thorough investigations, subpoenas records, and any other items needed for case presentation to the ADA Conduct interviews with complainants, victims, witnesses, and suspects to obtain relevant facts Conduct follow-up investigations Prepare detailed reports Execute both arrest and search warrants, conduct surveillance, and assist local, state, and federal partners in conducting criminal investigations File charges and testify in court Assist other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in conducting criminal investigations Perform other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary Qualifications
Must be an honorably retired peace officer A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement Must have an active TCOLE Peace Officer License Willing to accept, attend, and successfully complete additional training as required Must present a professional image Previous criminal investigative experience Knowledge of
Texas Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure, specifically Chapter 32 Skills
Proficient in the use of Superion, JWEB, CAD, DIMS, and JOTS computer systems Proficient in the use of standard office software programs such as MS Word and Outlook Excellent communication skills – both oral and written Excellent organizational skills Proficient report writing and communication skills Abilities
Effectively manage a caseload Prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines Work independently as well as in a team environment Work varying duty hours as may be needed Work with outside law enforcement agencies and HCDAO Application Process
