General Purpose The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors are responsible for opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation, maintain a clean work area at all times, and execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments

Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in everything you do.

Maintain awareness on the sales floor and correct or report unsafe conditions.

Secure the building – entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.

Remove clutter and keep egress clear.

Ensure customer safety – accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.

Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.

Customer Service

Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.

Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.

Recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.

Personal and Store Brand

Represent and support the Company brand at all times.

Maintain a professional appearance and ensure all Associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.

Keep all areas of the Store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.

Perform daily trash removal.

General Merchandising

Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet Company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up.

Notify when receiving merchandise truck is needed and process all merchandise urgently.

Responsible for receiving inbound deliveries, sorting, and organizing stockrooms.

Help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor when processed.

Ensure back‑stock is secured and processed per Company policy.

Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area.

Perform floor moves, signing, promotional signing, and re‑wraps as needed.

Loss Prevention

Comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a large customer‑service presence on the sales floor.

Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and safeguard confidential information, cash, and credit card information.

Maintain Public View Monitor (PVM) system properly.

Conduct “Code 50” package inspections and execute all Company Best Practices.

Front End Supervision and Operations

Execute Company Best Practices and maximize productivity by minimizing unnecessary steps.

Maintain pace, energy, and presence at the Front End; manage line to expedite customer wait time.

Train and coach Associates on cash registers, shortage control, and Front End procedures.

Control Retail Associates’ break schedule for backups, lunches, and breaks.

Ensure all equipment works properly and supplies for the Front End are maintained.

Ensure go‑backs are expedited, scanned, security tagged, and ticketed.

Teach the “Scan and Bag” best practice.

Fitting Rooms

Maintain and clean fitting rooms.

Audit and account for all garment tags per Company policy.

Ensure go‑back compliance throughout the day; all merchandise returned to the floor must be ticketed, scanned, and security tagged as required.

Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager

Ensure cashier pulls and bank deposits are conducted to Company policy.

Perform Front End control when needed and adhere to all cash, register, and payout policies.

Administer payroll, including daily punch edits, scheduling compliance, and payroll reporting.

Other duties assigned by Store Manager.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Fluency in English.

Prior Customer Service and supervisory experience preferred.

Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements/Ada Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.

Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.

Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.

Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.

Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.

Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 lbs.
