Reporting to the Senior Assistant Dean and working closely with the Department Chair, the Department Operations Manager provides strategic oversight, fiscal authority, and operational leadership for one of the Departments in the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences (either the Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice or Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences). The incumbent manages, plans, and administers departmental operations in support of academic and research programs, including budgetary financial management, strategic planning, workload planning (didactic and experiential), IT, HR, facilities, events, and communications (internal and external) related to the department. The incumbent selects, trains, and supervises department staff. What It Takes to be Successful

Required

Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality. Strong skills in short‑term planning, analysis, problem‑solving, and customer service. Demonstrated skills in employee supervision and HR administration. Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience / training. 3–5 years of relevant experience in administrative operations. 1–3 years of supervisory experience. Preferred

Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and/or personnel management. Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines. Solid knowledge of common University‑specific computer application programs. Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and/or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees. Total Rewards
