Responsibilities:
Pull customer orders and prepare related shipping documents accurately and promptly.
Prepare skids or pallets for shipping and complete stretch wraps.
Unload raw material from trucks in a timely fashion.
Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages and correspond with the shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
Route items to departments.
Scan material into the computer system using a scan gun and load tags.
Operate a forklift truck or use a hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from the shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Compare identifying information and counts, weigh or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
Prepare and route all incoming and outgoing articles as necessary for shipment to final destination or placement in FDC inventory following established specifications.
Determine method of shipment.
Schedule freight carriers for necessary pick‑ups.
Complete manifest paperwork for shipments.
Work with Customer Service department to coordinate efforts.
Affix shipping labels on packed cartons.
Pick inventory items released for shipment from Work in Progress and Inventory.
Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Assist in maintaining equipment for optimal operation, including adjustments and preventative maintenance.
Ensure compliance with established facility safety policies and procedures.
Treat all associates respectfully and professionally while maintaining company code of ethics.
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum education: high school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to operate a forklift and a pallet jack.
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to read, interpret, and write reports.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts using basic arithmetic and algebra.
Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical demands include standing, using hands and fingers, reaching with arms and hands, walking, stooping, kneeling, crawling, or crouching.
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
