Job Overview The Springfield City School District is seeking a Paraprofessional at Clark PreSchool for the 2025-2026 school year. Clark PreSchool is a high‑needs school located in west‑central Ohio.

Responsibilities

Assist teachers in providing educational benefits for students.

Work with students on academic assignments and/or physical needs.

Assist teachers in preparing materials, operating classroom or child mobility assistive technology, and attending workshops, seminars, and training programs.

Lift students up to 50 pounds using a one‑person lift or up to 300 pounds using a two‑person lift, pivot with the weight and transport up to 10 feet; lifts may be conducted up to 20 times per day.

Assist students in transition between classes within a 4 minute passing time by walking, guiding or pushing the student.

Assist students on steps, boarding and exiting transportation vehicles, supporting, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 300 pounds.

Move from a seated position on the floor to standing and move about the classroom at least 15‑20 times per 3‑hour period.

Run after and catch a student in flight on hard, soft, and uneven surfaces.

Assist with delegated nursing duties such as catheterization, tube feeding, and administration of diastat with proper training.

Provide diapering and restroom assistance as needed.

Maintain a solution‑focused mindset and a regulated emotional state at all times.

Adopt the Leader in Me framework and collaborate with colleagues to teach students the framework at school.

Collaborate with teachers and colleagues to collect student data and provide instruction to students.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Evidence meeting NCLB certification requirements: completed 60 credit hours of higher education, or obtained an Associate's Degree or higher, or passed the Ohio Department of Education paraprofessional exam.

Ability to obtain an Ohio Teacher's Educational Aide Certification.

Ability to complete 45 hours of training in child development; early childhood education; child abuse recognition and prevention; first aid; and prevention, recognition and management of communicable diseases, and maintain a notebook of all required trainings.

Benefits & Compensation As a contracted employee, this position works 7 hours per day, 192 days per year (Monday‑Friday 8:15 am‑3:45 pm). Starting salary is $19.29 per hour. All employees receive professional development and excellent competitive benefits. Salary and other details are available online in the Springfield Education United Support Staff agreement (SEUSS).
