Job Overview USC Athletics is looking to hire a Senior Learning Specialist to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. This role is responsible for providing academic support to student‑athletes and will perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Athletic Academic Support, the Senior Learning Specialist will work in collaboration with USC’s Athletic Department, Office of Student Accessibility Services, and other departments across campus that aid in the academic success of students.
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide academic support to a caseload of student‑athletes with the goal of them developing into self‑regulated learners.
Create academic support plans for individual student‑athletes and monitor academic progress of the student‑athletes on your caseload.
Stay in constant communication with SAAS staff regarding the student‑athletes you support.
Assist in mentoring of Assistant Learning Specialists.
Take on administrative roles/responsibilities within the tutorial program as needed.
Continuously grow and develop in the knowledge of how to assist students with learning differences.
Follow NCAA compliance guidelines and adhere to USC’s academic integrity policies.
Have a general understanding of NCAA eligibility requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) and at least two years of experience (three years preferred).
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Apps and Teamworks.
Experience working in higher education and/or a sports‑related field is ideal.
In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate, through ideas, words and actions, a strong commitment to USC’s Unifying Values.
Salary Range The annual base salary range for this position is $67,000 – $72,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer alignment, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
