**3% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) EFFECTIVE JULY 2025**

The City of Hemet seeks highly motivated, community-oriented Police Officer Laterals to fill current and anticipated vacancies. Ideal candidates should apply community policing concepts while maintaining effective enforcement. Note:

“Lateral” is defined as current employment with a POST-recognized law enforcement agency as a peace officer; or previous employment with such an agency with a break-in-service not exceeding three (3) years. Candidates with a break of more than three (3) years must have completed a POST Requalification course prior to application. Out-of-state applicants must have achieved a California POST Basic Course Waiver.

The Hemet Police Department emphasizes community policing, proactive law enforcement, crime prevention, and community involvement. Our community has supported its police department for over 100 years.

The department offers special assignments such as motorcycle officer, school resource officer, investigator, narcotics officer, field training officer, gang officer, canine handler, and SWAT. Per Commission Regulation 1008, Police Officer-Lateral applicants with a break of employment of three or more years must have completed requalification prior to applying.
