Minimum Experience/Education:
A PhD degree or equivalent (e.g. MD), in the last 4 years.
Duties and Responsibilities
To develop further the research skills acquired in their doctoral programs or to learn new research techniques, in preparation for an academic or research career.
Lead projects on cancer cachexia and/or tumor biology
Publish their work in peer-reviewed journals
Present their work in national and international conferences
Write mentored and independent grants
Mentor junior trainees in the lab.
Postdoc appointments are characterized by all of the following conditions:
the appointee was recently (within the last four years) awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D.);
the appointment is temporary;
the appointment involves substantially full-time research or scholarship;
the appointment is viewed as preparatory for a full-time academic and/or research career;
the appointee works under the supervision of a faculty member; and
the appointee has the freedom and is expected to publish the results of his or her research or scholarship during the period of appointment.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
The employee will have already acquired a Ph.D. or equivalent degree by the official start date and should be able to exercise scientific judgment daily. They will evaluate incoming information through experimental data and observations, written literature documentation, and oral communications and use this information to make judgments about what step(s) will next lead to progress. The Postdoctoral appointee must have recently (within the last four years) been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D.)
PI Preferred Experience:
The candidate
MUST
have experience in basic molecular biology techniques (such as western blot, qPCR etc.) and cell culture. Experience in tumor biology and/or muscle biology and mouse handling are preferred. If the candidate does not have experience in mouse handling, they will be trained as the project requires in vivo work.
Dr. Dasgupta's lab focus:
elucidating novel targets/therapies for pancreatic cancer associated muscle wasting and studying tumor-host crosstalk. It is advised that the candidate has some knowledge familiarity with the PI's work and has their own ideas to take projects further.
This is a fully funded 3-year postdoctoral position.
