Trade Compliance Specialist The Trade Compliance Specialist works collaboratively with internal partners such as Transportation, Internal Legal Counsel, Trade Compliance Tax, Regulatory/Quality and Demand/Supply Planning functions, and with external partners such as Customs Brokers, External Legal Counsel, and Government Agencies (FDA, USDA, and US Customs and Border Protection) to ensure compliance in accordance with all federal rules and regulations as it pertains to Nestle’s imported/exported products.

Daily collaboration with internal/external parties to monitor and facilitate compliance and due diligence on imported/exported product. Work with shippers, customs brokers, and freight forwarders to ensure all information and/or documentation is compliant and received timely for import and export declarations and processes.

Assign and/or validate Harmonized Tariff Schedule United States (HTSUS) Classification and Schedule B.

Research internally to identify ingredient sourcing and manufacturing processes and make determinations of eligibility for free trade agreements such as USMCA, Chile Free Trade, CAFTA, GSP, etc. Request certificate from exporter and/or prepare, certify, and issue certificates accordingly.

Work with Finance and Tax regarding internal processes and provide needed information for valuation/landed cost and reconciliation program to ensure compliance.

Request/obtain government certificates/permits for importation/exportation of goods.

Assist with internal/external audits to ensure full compliance with trade regulations.

Closely collaborate with global affiliates and exporters to ensure ISF timely filing and compliancy.

Participate in quarterly reviews with customs brokers, freight forwarders, as well as internal, post entry and valuation reviews.

Foster an end‑to‑end mindset as you drive process improvements together with cross‑functional teams when gaps and risk is identified.

Serve as the internal functional expert for import and/or export related programs, processes, industry trends, etc.

Continue self‑education of latest industry practices by attending seminars, conferences and webinars on regarding Trade Compliance to keep abreast of current events and constantly changing procedures and regulations.

Requirements and Education Level

Must have 3-5 years customs and international trade compliance experience; proven experience in relationship building, facilitation, implementation skills and influence; and financial and operational oversight skills in both centralized and decentralized environments.

The approximate pay range for this position is $76,000- $95,000 base salary. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location.
