The Core Research Associate II in the Transgenic and Genome Editing Core will be responsible for various tasks related to creation, validation and cryopreservation of genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs). Specific job duties are outlined below, and include preparation of gene editing reagents, embryo production/manipulation, implantation, post-operative care, genotyping and breeding with husbandry support from the Center for Comparative Medicine and Surgery (CCMS) group. Experience with rodent survival surgery and embryo handling is preferred but not required. Duties and Responsibilities

Produces mouse embryos via superovulation or natural breeding. Collects and manipulates preimplantation mouse embryos. Surgically transfers the embryos into pseudopregnant mice followed by post-operative care. Manages mouse colony via routine monitoring of mice, production of pseudopregnant females, breeding, tagging/biopsy, weaning and animal transfer. Genotypes mouse tissues utilizing PCR, sequencing and other molecular biology techniques. Assists in preparation and validation of genome editing reagents. Cryopreserves mouse sperm and/or embryos and manages the cryo-storage database. Coordinates import and export of frozen samples. Produces mouse embryos via in vitro fertilization (IVF) for line recovery/importation or genome editing. Assists in testing/implementation of new technologies. Occasional weekend work will be required. Performs other related duties as needed. Ensures rigorous compliance with safety and regulatory requirements while performing assigned tasks.
