About the Office The New York City Mayor’s Office of Creative Communications is responsible for generating digital content that represents mayoral policy and its impact on everyday New Yorkers. The team utilizes social media and other platforms to communicate the city's initiatives through live coverage, official photos, videos, graphics, and more.
About the Role As a Senior Video Producer, you will lead the production of high‑quality videos for public information releases, coordinate multimedia projects, and collaborate with stakeholders across the city to craft compelling narratives that help the public understand city policies, projects, and initiatives.
Responsibilities
Produce and edit videos from conception through final delivery for multiple platforms.
Plan and manage video shoots, including interviews with high‑ranking officials.
Oversee equipment management and support the Director in managing the production team.
Provide on‑the‑ground coverage of live events and community activities.
Pitch and develop original video concepts that align with city communications strategy.
Collaborate with photographers, graphic designers, and social media creators to ensure cohesive storytelling.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and at least two years of experience in community‑focused media work, or
High‑school graduation or equivalent and at least six years of experience in community‑focused media work, or
Equivalent education and experience; all candidates must have at least one year of experience in a community‑focused media role.
Preferred Skills
Strong editorial judgment with 3–5 years in an editorial or newsroom setting.
Adept with Sony Alpha cameras and lenses; capable of setting up 3‑point lighting and in‑studio production.
Expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud, with advanced After Effects skills a plus.
Experience shooting with iPhone/vertical videography and mirrorless cameras.
Ability to work as a one‑person crew on location shoots.
Excellent collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including photographers and social media teams.
Ability to script, produce, and edit video segments for social, short‑form, and long‑form formats.
Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment, including weekends and evenings.
