Project Director – Partnership for Success (PFS)
Richmond, Virginia
(support to 7 Community Services Boards across the state)
Contract Duration:
One year, with optional renewals
This is a
part-time contractor role (0.5 FTE / ~20 hours per week) . The individual will work remotely with required
annual in-person visits
and trainings.
The Project Director will provide strategic leadership, training, and technical assistance to seven (7) Community Services Boards (CSBs) to support the implementation of the
Partnership for Success (PFS)
grant. This role will help build jurisdiction-level capacity to improve substance use prevention outcomes using the
SAMHSA Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) .
Key Responsibilities Training & Technical Assistance
Deliver direct technical assistance and support to seven CSB sub-recipients.
Assist with the selection, implementation, and monitoring of evidence-based programs, practices, and policies.
Ensure culturally competent, community-specific implementation aligned with SPF and SAMHSA guidance.
Conduct annual in-person site visits and training sessions for each CSB.
Evaluation & Data Support
Collaborate with DBHDS and the evaluation team on data collection and outcome measurement.
Support CSBs with local needs assessments and evaluation planning.
Translate complex evaluation findings into actionable insights for communities.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
Attend and contribute to:
Quarterly State Epidemiological Outcome Workgroup (SEOW) meetings
Partnership for Success Advisory Committee meetings
Monthly meetings with DBHDS evaluation team and Data Analyst
Provide ongoing updates and insights to DBHDS Program Director and State Management Team.
Assist DBHDS in preparing required program and progress reports.
Required Qualifications Education
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Psychology, or a related field required.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in prevention science, substance use prevention, or public health.
Proven experience delivering technical assistance and training to community-based organizations.
Familiarity with SAMHSA's Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) is essential.
Experience supporting evaluation, data translation, and performance reporting.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Deep understanding of prevention science, evidence-based programs, and systems development.
Ability to work with diverse community stakeholders, CSBs, and inter-agency teams.
Skilled in facilitating meetings, workshops, and presentations for varied audiences.
Knowledge of research methodology, data analysis, and reporting tools.
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
