As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in relation to their in-service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran, providing an exceptional experience during these examinations to positively impact each Veteran.

Pay: Base + Monthly incentive = $130,728-$160,721 a year.

Job Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and assessing the impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. 10% travel required to include other LSGS clinics.

Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other pertinent documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the veteran’s medical history and health condition.

Render objective medical opinions based on examination findings, diagnostic results, and record review, providing evidence‑based assessments of the veteran’s health issues and their impact on work and daily activities.

Work within the case management system to organize workload, submit findings, and correspond with the Quality Assurance team.

Collaborate with healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts to obtain additional medical information and insights.

Document findings accurately in medical opinions and recommend actions in clear, concise reports following VA guidelines.

Partner with all Loyal Source departments to utilize resources and meet deadlines for optimal performance.

Effectively manage time, submit and confirm availability for all C&P exams, ensuring timely service to Veterans.

Ensure compliance and quality by adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations.

Work collaboratively with the QA team to submit thorough and accurate findings.

Maintain compliance with VA training requirements and stay updated on VA MDE program standards.

Safeguard confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational protocols.

Qualifications

Graduate of a professional nursing school accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Valid, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license, not barred from practicing in any U.S. state, District of Columbia, or U.S. territory.

At least one year of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner.

Previous experience conducting medical disability examinations or a related field is preferred.

Basic Life Support certification, including renewals.

Previous military experience or familiarity with the military or veteran communities preferred.

Completion of specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations, occupational health, or related areas is advantageous.

Proficiency in conducting comprehensive assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence‑based opinions.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex concepts clearly.

Unwavering commitment to ethical standards, objectivity, and fairness.

Excellent organizational and time‑management skills for managing multiple initiatives and changing focus quickly.

Authorized to work in the United States, including meeting any federal contractor requirements.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding, to carry out detailed instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.

Technological Ability Competent in the use of MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, and electronic medical records systems. Familiarity with Teams and web‑based instructional/learning management systems preferred.

Physical Requirements Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and see, hear, smell, bend, stretch, and engage in full range of motion for comprehensive physical examinations.

Travel Requirements 10% travel required supporting other clinics; additional travel for required training or company events.

Schedule Requirements Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm standard schedule. Holiday clinics are closed.
