Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital Serving the Homewood community, Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is a 595-bed acute-care hospital located in Birmingham, Alabama. The facility offers a full range of services, including emergency care, cardiovascular care, bariatrics, orthopedics and rehabilitation, and surgical services. It is also one of the largest providers of psychiatric care in the state. The hospital has earned Primary Stroke Center certification from The Joint Commission, and its bariatric program is accredited as a Comprehensive Center by MBSAQIP. The Women’s Medical Center provides comprehensive women’s services across all stages of life, including gynecologic surgery, maternity care, and labor and delivery. Additionally, the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) holds Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission. At Baptist Health Brookwood, the RN provides patient care in hospital or inpatient/observation settings, managing active treatment for injuries, illnesses, or post-intervention recovery. Our ortho/spine unit is a 30-bed unit with a 6:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. Join our Ortho-Spine Team, where every step forward matters! Essential Functions Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans. Evaluate patient progress toward expected outcomes. Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients. Advocate for patients and families. Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills. Serve as preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or clinician as needed. Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to plan and manage care. Model professional behavior, supporting hospital and nursing goals. Understand growth and development principles; assess and interpret patient data relative to age-specific needs. Coordinate care and delegate appropriately. Document care accurately, meeting regulatory standards, including assessments, education, medication administration, and safety. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use. Prioritize patient care based on evidence-based standards. Identify and resolve problems effectively. Delegate tasks based on patient needs and team member capabilities. Communicate patient condition and unit concerns effectively. Provide compassionate, therapeutic care environment. Be aware of legal issues and patient rights. Support new team members and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams. Maintain regular, punctual attendance per policies and standards. Comply with all hospital policies and procedures. Contribute to quality improvement, participate in committees, peer review, mentoring, and coaching. Use supplies efficiently and maintain a safe, organized work area. Attend staff development, meetings, and participate in professional growth. Partner with leadership to identify and pursue professional development. Own your professional growth and continuing education. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education/Training:
Graduate of an approved nursing school. Meets all competency requirements for Baptist Health, Orlando Health, and the specific unit. Licensure/Certification:
Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate license. Current BLS certification. ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain areas, with NRP needed for NICU.
