Summary of Job Duties A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Chemical Laboratory) performs a wide range of analytical tests on body fluids and specimens to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
Processes and evaluates specimens and performs appropriate tests to assist with detection, diagnosis, and treatment.
Records and evaluates daily, weekly, and monthly quality control issues in their assigned areas for further review by the supervisor.
Maintains safe work practices, follows all regulatory requirements and engages supervisor, manager, or director as appropriate.
Assists with day‑to‑day operations of assigned section in Core Lab.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology, or Medical Laboratory Science
ASCP certified or eligible to become certified
Must obtain certification within 1 year of becoming eligible
Preferred Qualifications
Previous clinical laboratory experience
ASCP certification
Physical Requirements Stand: Frequently Sit: Occasionally Walk: Frequently Bend, crawl, crouch, kneel, stoop or reach overhead: Frequently Lift and carry weight: 25 lbs Push and pull weight: 25 lbs Use hands to touch, handle or feel: Frequently Talk: Continuously Hear: Continuously Taste or smell: Occasionally Read, concentrate, think analytically: Continuously
Physical Environment Inside Medical Facility Environment Noise Level: Moderate Visual Requirements: Color discrimination, Depth perception, Far visual acuity, Near visual acuity Hazards: Biological, Chemical, Dust, Electrical, Fumes/Gases/Odors, Radiation, Sharp objects/tools
