Join the Department of Microbiology and Immunology as a Research Technician and play a key role in advancing important studies that make a real impact in the field of biomedical science. In this role, you will contribute to impactful research by performing both general and specialized laboratory tasks, including in vitro and in vivo experiments such as tissue culture, PCR, and animal necropsy. You will also play a key role in maintaining smooth daily operations through responsibilities such as ordering supplies, managing inventory, preparing and sterilizing reagents, and ensuring the laboratory environment remains well-organized and efficient. High School diploma/GED plus two (2) years of experience in performing tests in a research laboratory. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of the equipment used in a research laboratory. Must be willing to work with, handle, and perform experiments involving laboratory mice. Capable of formulating and making stocks of media and other chemical reagents. Must be able to keep organized laboratory records and notes. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Must have good communication skills. Knowledge of research science. Knowledge of laboratory methods, techniques, and procedures. Ability to prepare laboratory and animals for research experiments. Ability to independently perform research experiments and compile and analyze results. Ability to interpret new laboratory methods and procedures. Ability to provide maintenance and care of laboratory test animals. Ability to follow instructions carefully and meticulously. Able to move and clean laboratory equipment and formulate media; otherwise, there are no specific physical requirements. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or cell biology, or related field, or Master's degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or cell biology, or related field. Prior experience working with laboratory mice. Prior experience in sterile culturing techniques. Additional Information
Responsibilities: Perform research experiments as required or assigned, including assistance of other laboratory personnel. Ensure the lab is maintained in good order, which involves inventory assessment of reagents and consumables, picking up material from the department office, taking it to the laboratory, and putting it away in its appropriate place. Carry out various duties, including making stock solutions, ensuring that the lab is clean (which will involve wiping down laboratory benches, autoclaving glassware and waste, putting autoclaved glassware away, defrosting freezers, and disinfecting incubators). Perform other duties as assigned. Salary Information
