Overview WHKS has a great opportunity available for a Civil Engineer with 5+ years of experience who is interested in working with a wide variety of challenging engineering projects in both the office and the field. The candidate will use their knowledge and expertise in the design and management of municipal, transportation, and other infrastructure type projects. Work will include municipal utility and roadway design, site design, quantity estimates, and other engineering support functions. Responsibilities

Municipal utility, drainage, roadway, site design, and other engineering support functions

Coordinate with engineers and technicians on a variety of challenging engineering tasks in a collaborative team environment

Perform project management duties, including effective communication with clients to build strong relationships, review project needs, and secure contracts

Design and prepare roadway construction documents, including typical/cross sections, erosion and sediment control plans, maintenance of traffic plans, stormwater management, drainage design, signing and pavement marking plans, and right-of-way plans

Perform other design-related tasks, such as quantity calculations, geometric calculations, roadway layout, grading plans, utility layouts, and subdivision layout

Develop 3D models using Bentley CONNECT or Civil 3D software

Provide oversight of CADD technicians to verify accuracy and quality of work

Perform construction observation, which may include:

Conducting field-required concrete or asphalt testing

Preparing and documenting material reports, test results, and material sources

Maintaining daily inspection logs and addressing discrepancies with appropriate parties

Preparing and reviewing pay reports

Qualifications

Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering

Minnesota P.E. or ability to obtain within 6 months

5+ years of experience in municipal or transportation design

Valid driver’s license

Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and confidently with clients, contractors, and peers

Excellent computer skills

Experience with AutoCad Civil 3D and/or Bentley CONNECT
