Overview Industrial Designer (3–6 Years Experience) – Location: Chicagoland Area (In-person only).

Cruver Design partners with companies to create meaningful products that balance innovation, usability, and manufacturability. As a design consultancy, our work spans multiple industries, giving the team exposure to diverse challenges and opportunities to see ideas through from sketch to production. We value creativity grounded in problem-solving and are looking for a designer who thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

The Role We are seeking a mid-level Industrial Designer (3–6 years of experience) to join our team for an immediate opportunity in our Chicagoland studio. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in design thinking, excellent visualization skills, and proven experience moving concepts to production. This is an in-person position only—we believe collaboration and creative energy are best in the studio.

Employment Type This role is offered as a 3–6 month contract position with the potential to transition into a full-time role at Cruver Design.

Responsibilities

Generate product concepts through sketching, CAD modeling, and visualization

Build and refine 3D CAD models in SolidWorks for prototypes and production-ready deliverables

Produce renderings and visual presentations using KeyShot, Photoshop, Illustrator, and CorelDRAW

Participate in prototyping and hands-on model-making within the studio

Collaborate with clients and internal team members to translate insights into design solutions

Prepare technical drawings, presentations, and project documentation using Microsoft Office tools

Contribute to a fast-paced consultancy culture where adaptability and curiosity are valued

Required Skills

3–6 years of professional experience in industrial design

Proficiency in SolidWorks, KeyShot, Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Microsoft Office

Strong portfolio demonstrating concept development, CAD competency, and finished product outcomes

Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing methods, and design for production

Excellent sketching, visualization, and communication skills

Preferred Attributes

Familiarity with CMF strategy and human factors/ergonomics

Comfort moving between quick-turn conceptual work and detailed production development

Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines without sacrificing design quality
