Lead Certified Veterinary Technician – Surgery Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists is hiring a Lead Certified Veterinary Technician to join our INCREDIBLE Surgery team.

About You As a lead certified veterinary technician, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your work will range from facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests to assisting in surgery and supporting services such as admission and discharge.

Experience & Skills Requirements

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a surgical veterinary technician.

CVT/LVT/RVT required.

Leadership experience encouraged.

Available for on‑call rotation (required).

Self‑motivated with strong communication, interpersonal, and technical skills.

Experience in anesthesia, surgical assisting, and post‑operative care.

Experience running diagnostic imaging (MRI/CT/Radiology).

Excellent problem‑solving abilities and ethical professional conduct.

Strong attention to detail and ability to observe animal behavior and condition.

Proficiency in providing advanced nursing care or emergency first aid to recovering or injured animals.

Comfortable with anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I‑III (preferred experience with ASA I‑V).

Familiarity with the use of ventilators (preferred).

Knowledge of common and advanced veterinary surgical procedures and post‑operative therapies.

Ability to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, SpO₂, and CO₂, and integrate clinical signs with disease processes.

Collect and perform laboratory samples and tests (blood, urine, tissue).

Comfortable utilizing digital radiography and advanced diagnostic equipment.

Role Responsibilities

Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.

Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.

Attend regular leadership and department meetings to collaborate with management on improving and developing the team.

Ensure proper dissemination of information to the team.

Monitor and report on department performance; proactively identify opportunities to enhance service quality.

Assist in maintaining comprehensive medical records with practice systems.

Obtain health history from clients and maintain accurate charts.

Use safe restraining techniques, follow protocols, and keep treatment areas sterile and organized.

Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
