Position

Mental Health Supervisor — provides leadership, supervision, oversight and vision for the mental health clinical program. Responsibility includes planning, directing, and maintaining delivery of mental health services, ensuring compliance with mental health guidelines, coordinating with facility administration and other clinical administrators, providing training, supervising staff, and maintaining standard of care.

Plan, direct, and maintain delivery of mental health services; assure compliance with guidelines; manage appropriate use of resources.

Coordinate with facility administration, staff, and other clinical administrators regarding mental health needs; establish treatment plans for offenders with mental illness or other special needs populations.

Provide training on mental health needs and issues; manage psychiatric crises and emergencies.

Supervise and evaluate staff; participate in hiring and corrective actions with proper documentation.

Maintain compliance with mental health standards; liaison between the clinical program and other CDOC departments/facilities and outside agencies.

Facilitate clear communication and team-building within the unit and with other CDOC departments.

Handle payroll entry and daily mental health operations for the assigned unit or program.

Consult and train facility, community, and state service providers on treating incarcerated offenders with mental illness or related needs.

Participate in formal and informal mental health evaluations, therapy (group, brief, individual), and crisis intervention; participate in 24-hour Mental Health On-Call rotation.

Maintain required credentials/licenses for specialized practice (e.g., sex offender treatment or domestic violence).

Minimum Qualifications Applicant must possess a valid, active license from Colorado or a state participating in the Social Work Licensure Compact as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Two (2) years of licensed or license candidacy experience, with current licensure from Colorado or a participating state, including experience with the mental health and/or sex offender population (e.g., LSW, LPCC, SWC, LMFT candidates).

Required Competencies Self-control and ability to work in stressful, potentially violent situations; emotionally stable and mentally resilient under pressure.

Ability to maintain attention and communicate effectively; continuity of care with mental health standards.

Strong interpersonal, leadership, and analytical skills; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to read English and create accessible documents following plain language guidelines.

Ability to provide direct patient care to offenders and maintain licensure.

Preferred Qualifications Supervisory experience over professional behavioral health staff.

Clinical supervision and/or instruction over employees/interns; guiding diagnostic assessments and treatment goals.

Experience with severely mentally ill and developmentally disabled populations; leadership and oversight of a mental health program.

Extensive licensed experience providing mental health treatment.
