Full Time Overview
The Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) at the University of Florida seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to lead research on nutrient sorption technologies for water quality improvements in Florida. The role involves project coordination, field assessment, data analysis, and mentoring students within a multi‑year, NSF‑funded project focused on removing phosphorus and nitrogen from the Taylor Creek Stormwater Treatment Area. Responsibilities
Coordinate the overall project, including field-based assessment of sorption studies and monitoring of water quality and weather data. Facilitate laboratory analyses for nutrients and suspended solids, interpret data, and prepare reports. Conduct geostatistical assessments of treatment technology based on water quality data. Prepare cost assessments of TP/TN removal per pound for the technology. Serve as a mentor and leader for undergraduate, graduate students, interns, and visiting scientists. Write reports, manuscripts, and grant proposals, and assist in obtaining NSF and other funding. Drive to field locations and stakeholder meetings; conduct independent field work in hot, humid conditions. Qualifications
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Agricultural & Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences/Engineering, Nutrient Management, Water Quality, or a related field. Supportive of the mission and core values of the Land‑Grant system. Preferred
General understanding of Lake Okeechobee, Florida ecosystems, wetland-specific issues, hydrologic modeling, and geospatial assessment tools. Application Requirements
