The role you'll contribute:

Responsible for the comprehensive management and oversight of the Respiratory Care Department, including the direction and coordination of personnel as well as the administration of patient care through respiratory treatments and modalities. This role encompasses the administration of oxygen, therapeutic gas, and mist inhalation in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies, ensuring the proper management of all therapeutics and diagnostics. The position requires a thorough knowledge of medications, treatments, and their correct administration, based on the age of the patients and their clinical conditions. The incumbent is accountable for supervising all departmental personnel, managing the day-to-day operations, maintaining all departmental policies and procedures, and ensuring the effective management of the departmental budget. In addition to operational management, this role involves maintaining effective physician and interdepartmental relations, participating in outstanding customer service, and fostering relationships that are respectful to all. The position retains responsibility for policy development, orientation of new staff, scheduling, staffing, and the evaluation of employee work performance. It also coordinates and provides educational activities for the respiratory care department and nursing staff as appropriate, and develops performance improvement initiatives in adherence to governing regulatory bodies' standards. The individual in this role supports the organization's vision and mission, exercises considerable independent judgment to adapt and apply clinical and departmental guidelines to specific situations, and is involved in resource management, budgetary planning, staff selection, training, and retention. Identifying, implementing, and evaluating quality improvement initiatives, and maintaining patient, family, and stakeholder satisfaction are key responsibilities. The role may also oversee other services or departments to support operational requirements, ensuring the delivery of the most effective patient care through the application of performance improvement techniques.

The value you'll bring to the team:

Supervises Respiratory Therapy department personnel, including hiring, evaluating, training, and ensuring the efficiency of the technical staff.

Assists in the quality assurance program within the department and the hospital.

Administers therapeutic gases, such as oxygen, and prescribed medications via inhalation, including bronchodilators and humidified gases.

Administers positive pressure breathing treatments, including IPPB, Ezpap, CPAP, and Bipap, and monitors continuous ventilatory support.

Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and performs airway care, including tracheobronchial aspiration.
