Our 254‑bed full‑service facility offers emergency care, a primary stroke center, orthopedics and the only licensed obstetric and pediatric units in Charlotte County.
Operating Unit AdventHealth Port Charlotte
Role you’ll contribute The Emergency Room Technician supports nursing staff by assisting with patient care and performing tasks such as taking vital signs, performing EKGs, and responding within scope during emergencies. Responsibilities include timely specimen collection, EMS off‑load coordination, maintaining emergency equipment, and proficient documentation in electronic medical records. The technician acts as a unit liaison, facilitates communication with physicians and EMS, and meticulously observes infection control practices. This role demands professionalism, teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast‑paced environment, following AdventHealth’s standards.
Value you’ll bring to the team
Demonstrates competency in EKGs, cardiac monitoring, and BLS protocols.
Monitors cardiac/telemetry status and vital functions of all patients.
Performs as a Unit Liaison, including physician communication, maintaining electronic logs, EMS radio support, and coordinating patient transports.
Adheres to infection control policies and protocols to protect patients and employees.
Uses and maintains emergency equipment proficiently.
Documents treatment and administered care in the electronic medical record according to established policies and procedures.
Assists with replenishing code cart supplies and other essential equipment.
Assists the charge nurse and/or primary nurse with patient care throughout the department as assigned.
Coordinates the immediate off‑load of patients arriving via EMS with the primary nurse and/or charge nurse.
Collaborates with the primary nurse to implement appropriate physician orders to expedite patient care.
Obtains specimens promptly upon patient arrival.
Qualifications
High School Grad or Equiv
1+ healthcare of field experience
Basic Life Support – CPR Cert (BLS)
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) OR
Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT)
