Work Arrangement
Onsite - This position requires the employee to be onsite five days a week. Primary work location will be the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI. This position has the potential to require domestic travel of up to 50-75%.
The Role The Flawless Launch Execution Zone Manufacturing Engineer (Zone ME) will join a dynamic team of engineers dedicated to the successful execution of manufacturing engineering projects. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of project implementation, from initial process design and development to final production launch at the assembly site.
The Zone ME will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including strategic suppliers, operations, quality, and supply chain, to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards. This role carries ownership of a designated Zone within the General Assembly space and serves as the single point of contact for all engineering matters within that zone.
The position requires a high level of independent decision-making, effective communication, and leadership to drive flawless project execution and manufacturing excellence.
What You Will Do (Job Responsibilities)
Work through the processing, development, build, implementation, and startup at plant facilities.
Monitor and control project plans, investment required, timelines.
Monitor project progress, identify and resolve roadblocks, and mitigate risks.
Ensure adherence to engineering standards, best practices, bill of process, bill of equipment, safety, and regulatory requirements. Develop statement of requirements for Tooling and Equipment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution and successful product launches. Providing technical direction to and oversight of strategic suppliers
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Manufacturing Engineering, Strategic Suppliers, and Product Engineering.
Meet project budgets/forecasts and drive cost reduction initiatives.
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in manufacturing engineering.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Professional Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, demonstrating expertise in engineering practices and processes.
Project Delivery:
A proven track record of successfully delivering projects within a manufacturing environment, including equipment installation and construction, highlighting your capability to manage complex initiatives.
Project Management Proficiency:
Strong proficiency in project management methodologies, such as Agile and Six Sigma, ensuring efficient project execution and continuous improvement.
Technical Skills:
Experience with processing equipment, throughput, and comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes, enabling effective design and production.
Lean Manufacturing Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies, fostering operational efficiency and waste reduction.
Safety Awareness:
A strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Experience in launching new product. Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment and global launch process and global vehicle development process.
Robotics and Automation Expertise:
Familiarity with robotics and automation technologies, contributing to innovative manufacturing solutions.
Data Analysis Skills:
Experience with data analysis and statistical process control (SPC), enabling informed decision‑making and process optimization.
Educational Background:
Master’s degree in engineering
