Responsibilities

Builds tools and dies from part prints, sketches, reference parts, or instructions.

Operates tool room machinery in a safe and productive manner during the build process.

Performs tool and die repairs on progressive dies, manually operated dies, and tooling.

Diagnoses and troubleshoots dies in the bench area and makes corrections.

Works from T.C.O. program reports and last piece references to make corrections as required to produce quality parts.

Supports press room operations by servicing die sets, troubleshooting dies and making corrections when possible with die in the press, and using SPC data to determine dimensional integrity for die adjustments and documentation.

Interfaces with both internal and external customers, participates on problem solving teams in production, and handles customer and supplier concerns.

Initiates, recommends, or provides solutions through designated channels.

Supports MOS and safety programs.

Practices good housekeeping standards. Performs other essential functions as assigned.

Requirements

Prefer high school diploma or the equivalent and completion of a certified 4‑year apprenticeship program in die making and/or tool die making.

Tool and Die Makers must be able to stand on the concrete floor for the duration of the work shift, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, bend to the floor, and use arms and hands.

Visual precision is needed for visually inspecting parts for quality at production equipment speed, and for reading documents, machine gauges, and precision measuring instruments.

Tool and Die Makers must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and repeatedly lift up to 35 pounds from and to a height of 10‑56 inches for the work shift.

Tool and Die Makers may be hired to work in a specific area, however, all team members are expected to be able to work in all production areas to promote productivity, quality & safety.

Qualifications

Experience: EDM Operator experience a plus (preferred).
