Role Overview The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, installation, operation, and optimization of mechanical systems and equipment across the site. This role plays a key part in ensuring that all process and utility systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. Working closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations teams, the Mechanical Engineer provides technical expertise for new equipment projects, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives to support manufacturing goals.
Core Responsibilitiesh3>
Provide mechanical engineering support for process and utility equipment, including design review, installation, commissioning, and qualification.
Lead and support troubleshooting of equipment and system issues, identifying root causes and implementing permanent corrective actions.
Develop and update mechanical design documentation, including equipment specifications, drawings, and standard operating procedures.
Collaborate with Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and maintainability through design modifications and preventive maintenance strategies.
Participate in capital projects by contributing to equipment selection, layout, installation, and validation activities.
Conduct equipment performance analysis and recommend improvements in efficiency, safety, and cost‑effectiveness.
Support mechanical integrity and reliability programs, including risk assessments, failure analysis, and life‑cycle management.
Evaluate and coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to ensure compliance with technical requirements and industry standards.
Ensure all mechanical systems comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis methodologies to drive continuous improvement in mechanical systems and processes.
Perform other engineering duties as required in support of site operations.
Qualifications
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, maintenance engineering, or project engineering within a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or chemical environment.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, utilities, and piping systems.
Experience with equipment design, installation, and commissioning.
Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance principles and tools (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.).
Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) preferred.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities.
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
Salary Range $90,000 - $110,000 annual base salary
